Looking Back on 2017

Looking Back on 2017

This is the last blog of the year. How crazy is that!? I know I have been saying it for weeks now but time has been flying by and this whole year has been a blur. I wanted to take a moment to share a few highlights of our year, and I hope to hear about yours in the comments. No matter what happens throughout the year we can always look back on the good and the bad and use that to push ourselves into a new and even better year :)

March- We bought our house AND adopted Macy! After moving at least once a year we finally settled down in western North Carolina. We were sure we wanted to live in the mountains and after being here the last nine months we haven’t changed our decision at all. We love this home, the people we have met, and of course our Macy so much!

April- We trucked in dirt and rocks and made the garden! 40 x 36 feet and we did the whole thing with shovels and five gallon buckets. It was hard work but even I have to admit it was worth it.

May- Matt turned thirty and I found out I was pregnant! We also tore down the barn on our property which ended up being a fun project. Barnwood Builders here we come!

August- We announced to all of our family and friends that we were expecting. The months leading up to this moment seemed to drag by and it was so hard to keep the secret. In the end we were so happy we got to share the news in Maine and of course everyone was thrilled!

Sept. to October- We took advantage of the slow times and hiked like crazy. We got to see some incredible places in our area that we hope to explore even more next year. We also found out that we would be having a girl!

Nov. to Dec.- Friend holidays and the rush! We had friends over for Thanksgiving, worked every second afterward, then visited friends on Christmas. We ended up having the best holiday season ever in terms of sales, and despite not having any family down we had a wonderful time on both holidays.

Summing up the year like this doesn’t seem to give it justice. This year has been AMAZING! I hope when you look back on your year you can push away the negative and be so happy about the memories you created. In just two nights we will all be counting down at midnight to the next chapter. We are in control of the new year- creating opportunities, bettering ourselves, and sharing with the ones we love. We cannot wait to share in that journey with you.

Happy New Year!
